Dermal Fillers and Injectables

What are Cosmetic Injectables?

Cosmetic injectables are a popular alternative to surgery and other minimally invasive treatments to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Fillers provide missing volume in the face and lips and give an overall more youthful appearance.

We offer several synthetic cosmetic fillers which include hyaluronic acid as one of their main components. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in our joints and contributes to the resiliency of the cartilage located there.  Elevated levels of HA in the skin lead to increased skin hydration.  As we age, our skin begins to lose collagen, elastin, and HA which can cause some of the structural volume within your face, hands, or lips to slowly decrease.  This in turn, makes skin more prone to develop lines and wrinkles.  The cosmetic fillers our practice carries are designed to target the natural causes of aging and provide temporary, but long term, solutions to them.

At The Medi Spa at Ridgewood Hill, Dr. Carol Wray, her physician assistant Amy Bramblett-Robinson, and nurse injector Katie Vaughan, use the following cosmetic injectables:

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA)
  • Juvederm® XC & Juvederm® Ultra XC
  • Juvederm Voluma™ XC
  • BELOTERO®
  • Radiesse® Hand Rejuvenation
  • Volbella
  • Vollure

Benefits of Cosmetic Injectables

We offer two types of injectables- fillers & BOTOX ® Cosmetic which are effective, non surgical, anti-aging treatments.  The results are not permanent and require maintenance.  They can offer the following benefits:

  • Quick treatments that can be done in 30 minutes or less
  • Minimal downtime
  • Low risk
  • Very little discomfort
  • Excellent for reducing wrinkles, hiding age lines, and restoring volume in the cheeks
  • Can help alleviate the “tired” or “stern/angry” look
  • Can improve the appearance of the lips and wrinkles around the mouth
  • Can improve your facial appearance without surgery

How are Cosmetic Injectables administered?

When receiving fillers, Dr. Wray, her physician assistant, or her nurse injector will evaluate the targeted area and recommend the best treatment for your particular issue.  All injectables are injected with a very fine needle and depending on how many areas are to be treated, the process can take as little as 30 minutes.

Preparing for Cosmetic Fillers and/or BOTOX ® Cosmetic:

In order to keep possible bruising to a minimum, it is helpful to avoid medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs for 7-10 days prior to your injections.  Avoiding alcohol use for up to 48 hours prior to your injections could limit bruising as well.

Cosmetic Fillers and/or BOTOX ® Cosmetic Recovery:

You can expect swelling and some redness at the injection sites.  Depending on your procedure, there could be bruising.  Camouflage makeup can be used and is available for purchase in our office.  Ice packs will help alleviate any temporary discomfort and help with the temporary swelling and bruising.

How Much do Cosmetic Injectables Cost?

The cost  of cosmetic injectables varies based on type and amount used.  We accept cash, checks, and credit cards including VISA®, MasterCard®, Discover®, and American Express®.  We also offer financing through CareCredit®.  Payment in full is required prior to or at the time of your procedure.
